2022 Year-end Summary

2022 has already passed, and this year I have maintained some habits and made some breakthroughs. Although there are regrets, overall I am satisfied.

Here are some things worth acknowledging:

1.1 Word Memorization#

In 2022, I used "Don't Memorize Words" to memorize words. Although I didn't check in every day, I basically maintained this habit. I hope to continue this in 2023.

  • Total time spent: 5455 minutes, averaging 15 minutes per day
  • Memorized words for 303 days, learned 1309 words, reviewed 14866 words
  • Longest consecutive study streak: 53 days

I have accumulated a total of 20538 cool coins and exchanged them for a free Don't Memorize premium membership 😼.

1.2 Open Source Participation and Creating My Own Product#

Since 2021, I have been paying attention to and using logseq. Because it uses ClojureScript and the project has become quite complex, especially when it comes to the Windows part, setting up the environment can be troublesome. Therefore, in 2022, I only made a few simple PRs.

Later, I focused more on plugin development and developed a total of 6 plugins. The one with the largest user base is Agenda.

The entire project, from UI to interaction to development, was completed independently. It was quite challenging to have complete control over a product for the first time. Especially when there are users, how to maintain the consistency of the product in the process of continuous iteration and measure the needs of different users is a question worth pondering.

I would like to thank the products and designs that I have learned from.

I am also very grateful to the users who have provided positive feedback and affirmation. They are the driving force for me to continue moving forward.

Here is a summary of my open source contributions:

  • Received 701 stars
  • 1278 contributions
  • 40 cups of coffee totaling $200 (Thank you, bosses 💰)
  • Also received some valuable praise, haha

1.3 Created Some Useful Tools for the Team#

I am very grateful for the team's tolerance and openness. In addition to daily work, I had some free time. With this time, I upgraded a small tool that I wrote when I first joined, mainly to solve the current test server management issues. This upgrade involved the web end that I am familiar with, the CLI end that I am not very familiar with, and the backend that I haven't written for a long time.

I am very happy that this tool has been adopted by 6 projects and some colleagues have started to submit PRs.

Another small tool is an internal Electron development scaffold. I would like to thank the leader for supporting me in adding additional time costs to do this while working on business development. And thanks to a colleague who is willing to use it to explore new projects.

However, there were also some regrets in 2022:

2.1 Failed to Maintain English Reading Habit#

At the beginning of the year, I set a goal of reading one English article per day. Maybe because my foundation is not very good, reading took a lot of time and energy, and in the end, I couldn't stick to it.

2.2 Failed to Maintain Reading Books#

Unfortunately, I only read 3 books. It's a pity to miss out on so many good books.

3 Goals for 2023#

  1. English Learning
    • Memorize words for 15 minutes * 330 days
    • English reading (text or video) for 30 minutes * 330 days
  2. Learn a new language and create a small project
  3. Open Source
    • Increase Agenda stars to 700
    • Obtain maintainer status for a project
  4. Writing 12 articles
  5. Work
    • Receive at least one positive feedback at work
  6. Health
    • Exercise for 15 minutes * 300 days

Finally, let's go for it in 2023! 🚀
